Infrastructure Announcement in North Vancouver
VANCOUVER, July 13 /CNW/ - Port Metro Vancouver and the Government of Canada are pleased to invite members of the media to attend an official ground breaking event in North Vancouver on Wednesday, July 14, 2010. This event marks the start of a series of infrastructure upgrades to the North Shore Trade Area. Official remarks and details of the project will be announced onsite by the Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Chris Badger, Chief Operating Officer, Port Metro Vancouver. In addition, a First Nations blessing ceremony will be performed by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation.

About the North Shore Trade Area:
The North Shore Trade Area provides a critical connection to overseas markets for export products and is comprised of rail, terminals and industrial facilities that handle 35 per cent of all cargo volume through Port Metro Vancouver.
Last year, the federal government announced public and private sector contributions of $225 million towards infrastructure improvements on the North Shore, an unprecedented collaboration in support of the Asia-Pacific Gateway.
