OTTAWA, June 6, 2013 /CNW/ - This Friday, June 7, the Minister of Energy, the Honourable Bob Chiarelli will officially open Moose Creek Energy's new 4.2 megawatt (MW) landfill gas-to-energy plant, located at the Laflèche Environmental Inc. facility in Moose Creek, Ontario. The Moose Creek Energy facility is Energy Ottawa's second joint venture with Integrated Gas Recovery Services Inc. (IGRS), who together also own and operate the Trail Road landfill gas-to-energy plant in the City of Ottawa.
Landfill gas-to-energy generating plants turn landfill gas from the decomposing waste into electricity, and reduce green house gas emissions from escaping into the atmosphere.
Members of the media are invited to the official opening of the new Moose Creek Energy landfill gas-to-energy generating facility and will be provided site tours.
