Media Advisory - Multi-agency training exercise at YVR
RICHMOND, BC, April 28, 2015 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, April 29, Vancouver International Airport is hosting a training exercise simulating an aircraft accident at YVR to practice emergency response plans with business partners, airlines and emergency responders. More than 600 participants and 30 agencies are involved in the exercise.
Media are invited to observe the training exercise which will take place on airport property. A spokesperson from the Airport Authority will be available at the exercise site. Media will view the emergency response to an aircraft fire and a number of volunteers in theatrical makeup playing as victims. The training exercise will not affect operations at YVR.
Training exercises are a key part of YVR's Emergency Management Plan and are performed on a regular basis. Exercises can include live scenario training, such as this exercise; table-top exercises; and emergency simulation drills.
