MEDIA ADVISORY - National Benefit Authority presents $150,000 cheque to True Patriot Love Foundation to benefit Canadian Military Families with Special Needs

TORONTO, Aug. 1, 2015 /CNW/ - Hon. Jason Kenney, Minister of National Defence, will be in attendance to assist with the presentation of a multi-year donation from the National Benefit Authority (NBA) to the True Patriot Love Foundation (TPL), held on August 4^th at the Toronto Military Family Resource Centre (TMFRC). The event will showcase the donation to TPL, which will benefit Canadian Military families with children with special needs.

Why:	The National Benefit Authority has chosen to support True Patriot Love Foundation with a multi-year donation of $150,000. The funds will be used to benefit Canadian Military families with children with special needs, to provide financial relief for various required processes, such as tutoring, necessary assessments, respite care and essential therapies such as speech, visual and behavioural therapy. A portion of funds from this amount will directly be disbursed to the Toronto Military Family Resource Centre to support the Casual Care Program. The amount disbursed will cover the costs of 2 spots within the Casual Care Program, 1 day a week for a year, for children with complex special needs. The remaining amount given from the National Benefit Authority will be will be disbursed across Canada to support Military families with children with special needs in order to address a backlog of funding requests in 2015.
