ratified Saturday in Toronto
OTTAWA, April 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Energy workers from over 50 oil, gas and petrochemical operations across Canada will convene this Saturday to ratify a proposed pattern agreement for Canada's energy sector.
Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union delegates from Local unions and bargaining units participating in the union's National Energy and Chemical Bargaining Program will meet at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 1 at the Sheraton Centre, Toronto.
The conference will review a tentative agreement reached between the national union and Suncor Energy on behalf of 10 Suncor and former Petro-Canada operations in oil sands, refineries, gas plants and specialty divisions across Canada. Details of the tentative agreement are withheld until the conference convenes.
If ratified, the proposed national agreement will set term, wages and other national issues for almost all unionized workplaces in the Canadian oil, gas and petrochemical industries. The national pattern is combined with local bargaining on a range of issues specific to each location to reach final collective agreements.
Union officers and negotiators will be available for comment Saturday.
