Media Advisory - Official opening of Corktown Common

TORONTO, July 8, 2014 /CNW/ - On July 10, Waterfront Toronto and its government partners will celebrate the official opening of Corktown Common with a ribbon cutting ceremony in the park, followed by a community event in the evening hosted in partnership with our development partners, Urban Capital and Dundee Kilmer.  

This award-winning park in the West Don Lands is a key part of the area's transformation from former industrial lands into a dynamic, sustainable, and mixed-use riverside community.  With spectacular views of Toronto's skyline and a wide range of features, Corktown Common is the centerpiece of this new community.

WHAT:	Official Ribbon Cutting & Opening Celebration of Corktown Common

	Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
	Community celebration: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
WHERE:	Corktown Common is located at the foot of Bayview Avenue at Lower River Street.  The event is at the pavilion. You can access Corktown Common from Bayview Avenue at Lower River Street or from the Don Valley Trail at the Bala Underpass. Barrier-free access to the park is from the entrance on Bayview Avenue. Until the eastern portion of the park is complete the entrance from the Bala Underpass is only by staircase.
GETTING THERE
Public Transit:	Please see the TTC's diversion notice for route details. The 501 Queen Street streetcar is diverting between Parliament Street and Coxwell Avenue. 501 Queen Street shuttle buses will make stops at River Street - both eastbound and westbound. Walk south on River/Lower River Street, past Lawren Harris Square. Park entrance is on the east side of Bayview Avenue.
Parking:	Very limited street parking is available nearby.
