Also joining the conference are world-renowned researchers and presenters, Dr. Cheryl Regehr and Dr. Michael Ungar. Dr. Regehr is the Vice-President and Provost for the University of Toronto and a leading practitioner and researcher in the area of forensic social work and emergency mental health. Her most recent work focuses on three areas: trauma and recovery; social work practice and competency; and stress, trauma and decision-making in emergency service professions.
Dr. Ungar is a leader in the field of resilience and leads an international team of researchers that spans more than a dozen countries on six continents. His research focuses on resilience among children, youth and families and how they survive adversity in culturally diverse ways.
Background: The Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) is the voice of social workers in Ontario. Incorporated in 1964, OASW has approximately 4800 members and 15 branches across the province. OASW speaks on behalf of the interests and concerns of social workers and advocates for the improvement of policies and programs directly affecting the quality and delivery of services to social work clients.
