TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2017 /CNW/ - The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is bringing its rate review process to Thunder Bay. The province's energy regulator has received an application from Hydro One Remote Communities to increase its electricity rates by $1.55 per month for a typical year-round residential customer and $1.79 for a typical residential seasonal customer. Government-funded residential customers would see an increase ranging from $8.90 to $13.05 per month depending on whether the community can be accessed by year-round road/rail or air. This application may impact customer bills for the next five years, starting May 1, 2018.
The amounts requested by Hydro One Remote Communities in its application to the OEB relate to its electricity rates and do not reflect any credits or other changes resulting from the Fair Hydro Act, 2017.
The OEB will carefully review Hydro One Remote Communities' application. As part of its review, the OEB is holding a community meeting to help consumers:
- Learn more about Hydro One Remote Communities' costs and rate application
- Find out how the OEB will review the application
- Get involved and provide your comments about the application to the OEB
