Heritage Week is an annual event that offers Ontarians a unique opportunity to celebrate our rich history and to recognize the important work of heritage organizations and volunteers across the province. Many communities will celebrate with their own special events and activities, including exhibits, lectures, workshops, informal gatherings and tours.
This year's theme - Cultural expressions - recognizes the relationship between heritage and the arts, and encourages Ontarians to celebrate the creative culture of their communities.
The launch event in Toronto will feature keynote speaker Marshall Pynkoski, Co-Artistic Director of Opera Atelier, and a special presentation by cultural explorers Sue and Jim Waddington.
Heritage Week 2013 runs from February 18 to 24. For more information about activities planned across the province, including free public tours of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, visit www.heritagetrust.on.ca/hw2013.
