Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association First Vice-President in Hamilton Tomorrow: Marks Nursing Week 2012 with Hamilton Health Sciences nurses
HAMILTON, ON, May 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN will join Hamilton Health Sciences nurses tomorrow for a Nursing Week 2012 celebration.
Nursing Week is held each year to coincide with the birthday of nurse Florence Nightingale. ONA has chosen the theme "Value the Invaluable" for Nursing Week 2012. ONA is reminding both members and the public to recognize that dollar for dollar, nurses are the best value in health care today. Nurses are under more pressure than ever as austerity measures squeeze health care budgets.
McKenna will join the nurses for a pizza and wing night tomorrow evening from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. She is available to speak to the media.
ONA is the union representing 59,000 front-line RNs and allied health professionals and more than 13,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
