Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association First Vice-President in Peterborough Tomorrow: Marks Nursing Week 2012 at the Board of Health
PETERBOROUGH, ON, May 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) First Vice-President Vicki McKenna, RN will meet with public health nurses tomorrow to celebrate Nursing Week 2012.
Nursing Week is held each year to coincide with the birthday of nurse Florence Nightingale. ONA has chosen the theme "Value the Invaluable" for Nursing Week 2012, and ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN is reminding both members and the public to recognize that dollar for dollar, nurses are the best value in health care today. Nurses are under more pressure than ever as austerity measures squeeze health care budgets.
McKenna will meet with the nurses from noon to 2 pm tomorrow.
ONA is the union representing 59,000 front-line RNs and allied health professionals and more than 13,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, industry and clinics.
