Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association Leaders, Members and Staff Show Their Pride at Toronto Pride Parade
TORONTO, June 25, 2017 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) board members, leaders and staff will show their pride today as they join in Toronto's 2017 Pride Parade.
ONA front-line members, their friends and families, board members and staff will ride or march with the ONA float when the parade gets underway to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Ontarians.
"As nurses and health-care professionals, we know that LGBTQ+ workers and patients may feel invisible and unable to fully express themselves in their workplaces and communities," said ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN. "Pride is an opportunity to celebrate diverse histories, experiences, backgrounds and progress."
ONA continues to be a strong supporter of Pride and human rights and equity and will be waving ONA flags and proudly marching as the Pride Parade gets underway at approximately 2 pm.
ONA is the union representing 64,000 registered nurses and health professionals, as well as more than 16,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care, the community, public health, clinics and industry.
