Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association Members Join Toronto Labour Day Celebrations
TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) members, staff and their families will join in marking Toronto 2013 Labour Day celebrations tomorrow.
ONA registered nurses and allied health professionals working in all sectors of health care - will march in Toronto's annual Labour Day Parade. This year's theme is "Together Fairness Works."
"This theme very much resonates with ONA members," notes ONA President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN. "As front-line health care providers, we witness the impact of income inequality on people's lives and on their health. ONA members know that good jobs with reasonable pay and benefits will improve the health of Ontarians, and that attacks on unions will further hurt all workers."
ONA members from Sarnia, Windsor, Port Elgin Barrie and other locations will also be taking part in their own local events.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates. ONA members provide care in Ontario hospitals, long-term care, community care, public health, industry and clinics.
