Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association President Visits Windsor
WINDSOR, ON, May 12, 2014 /CNW/ - As Nursing Week 2014 kicks off, Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will visit Windsor to visit with ONA members throughout the city.
Accompanied by ONA Region 5 Vice-President Karen Bertrand, RN, Haslam-Stroud will make site visits with members at the Chrysler plant, Windsor Regional Hospital, the Windsor Community Care Access Centre, Brouillette's Manor, Huron Lodge, and Public Health Unit.
Haslam-Stroud's visits begin at 9:45 am and she will cap off today's celebrations with a dinner with members of ONA Local 8 in the evening.
ONA has chosen the theme More Nurses, Better Care for this year's celebrations, focusing on the value and benefits of nursing care to patients. Haslam-Stroud says that nurses provide cost-effective and high-quality care to patients, despite tight health care budgets and daily workload challenges. Despite clear evidence of the value of nursing care, Ontario continues to have the second-lowest RN-to-population ratio in Canada.
Haslam-Stroud is available for media interviews while in Windsor.
ONA is the union representing 60,000 registered nurses and allied health professionals, as well as more than 14,000 nursing student affiliates providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
