Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses Join "The Rich and the Rest of Us" Town Hall Forum in Kingston
KINGSTON, ON, June 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Dozens of front-line nurses from across Ontario - members of the Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) - will join the top elected leaders of several major provincial unions tomorrow night in Kingston for the "Rich and the Rest of Us" Town Hall forum.
The leaders will focus on the increasingly serious issue of income inequality in Ontario.
The forum will feature a panel of speakers including James Clancy, President of the National Union of General Employees (NUPGE), Jamie Swift, a writer, social justice activist and lecturer from Queen's University School of Business, and Marijana Matovic, community development, Kingston Community Health Centres.
Also attending are Ontario Nurses' Association President Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN, Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) President Sam Hammond, Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association (OPFFA) President Mark McKinnon and Society of Energy Professionals (SEP) President Scott Travers.
The Rich and the Rest of Us" forum in Kingston is part of a national campaign called All Together Now. This campaign aims to turn around the damage done to labour rights and public services, and to implement a fair tax system and modern industrial strategy to create and maintain good jobs.
