MEDIA ADVISORY - Ontario Safety League and Insurance Bureau of Canada team up
once again to launch Operation Red Nose in 12 Ontario communities
TORONTO, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Ontario Safety League (host) and Insurance Bureau of Canada (sponsor) are joining forces for another year to help keep Ontario roads safe during the holiday season with Operation Red Nose.
Operation Red Nose is a free designated driver service. In 2009, 3,793 ORN volunteers provided more than 5,340 safe rides home to holiday revellers in their own vehicles in Ontario alone.
OSL and IBC will announce details of the 2010 program in Ontario at a news conference on Wednesday, November 3 at 11:30 a.m. Communities that will host ORN will be: Bolton, Borden, Brampton, Burlington, Chatham-Kent, Hearst, Kingston, Newmarket-Aurora, North Bay, Quinte, Sudbury, Thunder Bay.
Special guests at the news conference will include:
- Jim Bradley, Ontario Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services
- Kathleen Wynne, Ontario Minister of Transportation
- Ralph Palumbo, Ontario Vice-President, Insurance Bureau of Canada
- Brian Patterson, President and General Manager, Ontario Safety League
- Rudy, ORN mascot
Interviews and photo opportunities with special guests as well as Rudy, the Operation Red Nose Mascot, will be available after the conference. A light lunch will be served.
