MEDIA ADVISORY - Ontario's community colleges with on-campus child care recognized for "Excellence in Early Childhood Education"
TORONTO, Oct. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Every year the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care and Ontario unions co-sponsor "Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day".
This year our annual award recognizes Ontario community colleges with on-campus child care programs - notably Centennial, Conestoga, Confederation, George Brown, Humber, Lambton, Sault, Seneca and Sheridan.
"As the union representing workers in the college child care centres, we are proud to recognize the education, skills, dedication, passion and experience of our members," commented Marilou Martin, President of OPSEU local 557 at George Brown College.
"We congratulate those Ontario community colleges offering the highest quality Early Childhood Education programs. Lab schools apply and demonstrate the most current and relevant research in high quality programming for young children. In addition, lab schools promote the necessity for community connections as part of professional practice - for students, faculty and parents" said Sheila Olan-MacLean, President, OCBCC.
The award will be presented to community colleges operating a child care centre throughout the year.
