WEST VANCOUVER, BC, June 9, 2017 /CNW/ - Terry Beech, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, together with Member of Parliament Pamela Goldsmith-Jones will welcome the public to an open house at the Centre for Aquaculture and Environmental Research (CAER) and provide details about CAER's future as one of two designated Science Enterprise Centres in Canada. Media availability will be provided. Please ask attendant for designated media parking as spaces are limited.
Highlights of the open house include tours of the research labs and a Canadian Coast Guard research vessel, underwater remotely operated vehicle demonstrations, a touch tank and community stewardship displays. DFO scientists will speak about their aquaculture research on genetically engineered salmon, sea lice "cleaner fish" and the environmental impact of farmed fish feed.
