LONDON, ON, Aug. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Ontario Public Service Employees Union President Warren (Smokey) Thomas and OPSEU First Vice President / Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida will get a first-hand look at conditions inside the troubled Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre when they tour the facility on Tuesday Aug. 14. EMDC was the site of more than a week of inmate disturbances and threats against correctional officers represented by OPSEU Local 108 following a lockdown in late July.

Thomas and Almeida will be available to speak with the news media following their escorted tour of EMDC.
