MEDIA ADVISORY - OPSEU to host largest rally against LCBO privatization
TORONTO, Dec. 9, 2016 /CNW/ - Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) members at the LCBO will host the largest rally yet against the privatization of the LCBO – this time in downtown Toronto.
Date: Friday, December 9, 2016 |
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. |
Place: Atrium on Bay, Dundas Street entrance, just west of Yonge Street, Toronto |
The rally will feature remarks from OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas, OPSEU First Vice-President/Treasurer Eduardo (Eddy) Almeida, OPSEU Liquor Board Employees Division Chair Denise Davis, and NDP MPP Peter Tabuns (Toronto-Danforth).
"It's time to get a little louder," said OPSEU President Thomas. "We've been across the province with this campaign against the Liberal's scheme of privatizing the LCBO by the back door, and what Ontarians are telling us is that they support the LCBO. This province just can't afford to lose another public asset that helps pay for the public services we all rely on."
