Media Advisory - Paediatricians gather to discuss hot topics in child and
youth health
OTTAWA, June 21 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Paediatric Society's 87th Annual Conference, June 22-26 in Vancouver B.C., will showcase the latest research and developments in child and youth health. Over 900 paediatricians and child and youth health professionals from across Canada are expected to attend.
The program includes more than 190 scientific abstracts in areas such as neonatal-perinatal medicine, developmental paediatrics, adolescent health, infectious diseases and mental health.
The conference features:
- A keynote address by Dr. James Orbinski, physician, author and humanitarian activist. Former president of the International Council of Médecins Sans Frontières, he is a recipient of the Order of Canada. Dr. Orbinski will speak Tuesday, June 22 during the Opening Ceremonies between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m. (all times local Vancouver). - Timely workshops and concurrent seminars on child and youth health. Topics include adolescent obesity, environmental health, childhood and adolescent nutrition, mental health, drug therapy, travel medicine and emerging issues in infectious diseases. - Paediatric Update: Presentations on some of the timeliest issues in the field including celiac disease, peanut oral immunotherapy, syphilis, as well as ways to improve children's emotional and mental health. Updates will take place Saturday, June 26 at 10:15 a.m. in Salons 2 and 3.
