Media Advisory - Parents to Get an Insider Look at Teens and Social Media
TORONTO, Nov. 5, 2015 /CNW/ - On November 12th, MediaSmarts, in collaboration with Northern Secondary School, will be providing Toronto parents and teens with free workshops on social media. The two workshops – Respecting Yourself and Others Online and The Parent Network: Social Media and Your Kids – will run concurrently on the same evening. At the teen workshop, students will learn how they can minimize the risk of negative experiences and maximize the positive opportunities while socializing online. At the parent workshop, adults will be given an insider look at what young people are doing on social networking platforms and find out what they need to know to help their kids navigate their digital world.
The two workshops will be followed by a hands-on session which will bring together parents and teens to talk about, and practice, what they have learned.
The Respecting Yourself and Others Online and The Parent Network: Social Media and Your Kids workshops were made possible with support from Bell.
