Media Advisory - Photo & Interview Opportunities - OPP to showcase new law enforcement marine vessels
ORILLIA, ON, April 26, 2012 /CNW/ - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has acquired a number of modern, new "purpose-built" marine vessels that have been specially modified for law enforcement.
Members of the media are invited to see some of Ontario's finest marine officers train on these new "Justice Series" police boats as they prepare for the busy boating season on the more than 94,000 square kilometres of waterways they police in Ontario.
OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis will deliver important boating safety messages and members of the Highway Safety Division, Marine Programs and Fleet, Supply & Weapons Services Bureau will showcase the new police boats and answer questions about how these modern new vessels will enhance public and officer safety on Ontario's waterways.
Weather and time permitting, media members will be invited to accompany marine officers for a ride-along on an OPP marine vessel.
