MEDIA ADVISORY - Port Lands Flood Protection and Enabling Infrastructure Project Due Diligence Report
TORONTO, Oct. 19, 2016 /CNW/ - Members of the media are invited to a technical briefing and press conference on the Due Diligence Report for the Port Lands Flood Protection project.
The due diligence program was undertaken to provide greater certainty on the cost, construction schedule and risks associated with Waterfront Toronto's proposal to flood protect the Port Lands and surrounding areas and unlock its significant economic development potential. The Port Lands Flood Protection Project would create additional outlets to convey flood waters – including a new mouth for the Don River – in order to provide flood protection. Providing flood protection for the Port Lands and unlocking its development were identified as top priorities by all three levels of government when they first established Waterfront Toronto in 2001.
The technical briefing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – when advance copies of the Due Diligence Report will be available – to be followed by a press conference and media availability at approximately 11:30 a.m.
