WINNIPEG, Feb. 26, 2014 /CNW/ - Unifor activists from across the Prairies will gather on February 28 and March 1 in Winnipeg to meet as a Regional Council for the first time since the formation of the union. The meeting will be held at the Fort Garry Hotel at 222 Broadway.
"Unions are crucial to strengthening the middle class and lifting workers out of poverty," said Unifor's Western Region Director Scott Doherty. "The convention is a key time for trade union activists to gather and discuss how we can become an even stronger force for good jobs and social justice."
Nearly 300 elected delegates, guests, and staff will meet to strategize about national and local campaigns and elect the 2014-2015 Prairies Council Executive Board. Delegates will hear from speakers on a range of issues important to workers, from pipelines to Unifor's innovative Community Chapters project.
