MONTREAL, Sept. 10, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives are invited to attend the announcement of the film that will represent Canada in the race for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 86th annual Academy Awards. The film is selected by a pan-Canadian committee.
Canada has made its mark at the Oscars over the last three years, scoring Best Foreign Language Film nominations for War Witch (Kim Nguyen), Monsieur Lazhar (Philippe Falardeau), Incendies (Denis Villeneuve) and the coproduction (Poland-Germany-Canada) In Darkness (Agnieszka Holland).
Telefilm coordinates and chairs the pan-Canadian selection committee, which comprises 23 voting members representing major Canadian government agencies and national film industry associations.
