TORONTO, Sept. 18, 2018 /CNW/ - Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 3903, the York University Graduate Students' Association, the York Federation of Students, and the York University Faculty Association will hold a joint press conference on Wednesday, 19 September, to announce legal and political action against York University's biased use of student code of conduct proceedings.
Spokespersons for the organizations will provide details of their fightback against York University's circumvention of the grievance procedure and its attempts to bypass just-cause protections through York's use of its own internal, non-legal disciplinary process.
Senior university administrators have targeted selected union members and undergraduate students for their participation in protests during the four-month strike earlier this year. Union and student representatives are condemning York U's attack on freedom of expression and assembly and are calling for all related code of conduct proceedings to be dropped.
