Media Advisory - Prominent local groups gathering to plan historic Canadian milestone
VANCOUVER, April 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Vancouver is the site this week for a gathering of local organizations teaming up to mark an historic Canadian milestone.
The 150Alliance is a new national network bringing together public, not-for-profit, and private sector organizations to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.
Vancouver is the first Western stop on a nation-wide tour being organized by the 150Alliance. Civic, cultural and business leaders will meet at the Creekside Community Recreation Centre to think big, share ideas, and make connections. Reconciliation, and the need to build new relationships among Aboriginal peoples and all Canadians, will be a prominent theme for the Vancouver gathering.
Participants at the 150Alliance meeting will have an opportunity to share their plans for 2017, seek out other partners, and get a sneak peak at sesquicentennial plans from leading local groups like Port Metro and Canada House.
Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, Ambassador to Reconciliation Canada, will present a keynote address about celebrating 2017 in the context of reconciliation for Aboriginal peoples and all Canadians.
