Media Advisory - Prostate Cancer Canada announces local Cape Breton hero
Launch of Wake Up Call Breakfast in Cape Breton to honour individuals in the fight against prostate cancer
CAPE BRETON, NS, Aug. 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Please join Prostate Cancer Canada and members of the Cape Breton community as we celebrate the launch of the Wake Up Call Breakfast series and announce a local hero who has made an extraordinary contribution in the fight against prostate cancer through courage, inspiration and dedication.
Former Nova Scotia Liberal party leader and former Sydney Mayor Vince MacLean will be revealed as Cape Breton's local hero on August 14. In addition, Prostate Cancer Canada will announce Jim Kehoe, O.N.S as this year's keynote speaker and survivor.
This launch is the pre-cursor to the inaugural Cape Breton Wake Up Call Breakfast being held on September 13th at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre. The Wake Up Call Breakfast series is an annual event and the only Canada-wide business breakfast series dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer. Over the past decade the event has attracted more than 18,000 business professionals and raised nearly $2.3 million for prostate cancer research, awareness, support and advocacy.
Media are invited to attend this launch and schedule an interview to learn more about the personal stories of our local hero and keynote speaker. Interview opportunities will be available prior or post event with Vince, Jim, Wake Up Call Breakfast committee chair Cecil Clarke, and local Prostate Cancer Canada representatives.
