Media Advisory - Prostate Cancer Canada celebrates local Cape Breton hero
Wake Up Call Breakfast shines a spotlight on distinguished individuals in the fight against prostate cancer
CAPE BRETON, NS, Sept. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - Please join Prostate Cancer Canada and members of the Cape Breton community as we celebrate a local hero who has made an extraordinary contribution in the fight against prostate cancer through courage, inspiration and dedication.
Vince Maclean will be honoured on September 13 at the first-ever Wake Up Call Breakfast in Cape Breton. Maclean is the former Nova Scotia Liberal party leader and former mayor of Sydney. In addition, local Nova Scotia business icon Jim Kehoe O.N.S. will be this year's keynote speaker. He is also a prostate cancer survivor.
Prostate Cancer Canada is pleased to donate a portion of the event's proceeds to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation. These proceeds will directly benefit men in Cape Breton.
The Wake Up Call Breakfast is the only Canada-wide business breakfast series dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer. Over the past decade the event has attracted more than 18,000 business professionals and raised nearly $2.3 million for prostate cancer research, awareness, support and advocacy.
Media are invited to attend the event and hear first-hand the remarkable and inspirational stories of these local survivors.
