MEDIA ADVISORY - Public Health Nurses Hold Information Picket: Hastings Prince Edward County Nurses Seek Support for a Fair Contract
BELLEVILLE, ON, Sept. 4, 2018 /CNW/ - More than 40 Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) members working for Hastings Prince Edward County Public Health will hold an information picket September 5, seeking support from the community as they try to avoid being forced to strike.
The Public Health Nurses, Registered Nurse and Registered Practical Nurses have been working without a contract since December 31, 2017.
The nurses and their supporters will be handing out leaflets in Belleville as the board of health is meeting on September 5, from 9:00 a.m. on. ONA and its members have urged the board of health to provide a bargaining mandate that respects and values the ONA members. They are seeking the support of the community members they serve.
ONA is the union representing more than 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 16,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
