Media Advisory - Québec and Ottawa Itinerary for the Governor General and the President of the United Mexican States Français
OTTAWA, June 25, 2016 /CNW/ - His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will officially welcome His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United Mexican States, to Canada for a State visit from June 27 to 29.

Official Welcoming Ceremony
An official welcoming ceremony, with military honours, will be held at the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec. President Peña Nieto will inspect the guard of honour. The Governor General and the President will then offer remarks.

Ceremonial Tree Planting
The President will plant a hemlock on the grounds of Rideau Hall to commemorate his visit to Canada.
Over 140 commemorative trees grace the grounds of Rideau Hall, the official residence of the governor general of Canada. They mark visits by members of the Royal Family, heads of State and other dignitaries.

State Dinner
Their Excellencies will host a State dinner in honour of the President's visit to Canada. The Governor General and the President will deliver remarks on this occasion. The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, and Madame Sophie Grégoire Trudeau will attend the event.

MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR EVENTS AT THE CITADELLE
To cover events at the Citadelle, media representatives must confirm their attendance in advance with the Rideau Hall Press Office. Media representatives are asked to arrive at least 40 minutes prior to events taking place. They will be asked to present valid photo ID along with their affiliated media credentials.
