MONTREAL
,
Sept. 18
/CNW Telbec/ - The Liberal Party of
Canada
(
Quebec
) will hold its next general assembly on
Sunday, October 4th
, in
Quebec
City, Mrs
Alexandra Mendes
, MP for Brossard, and Me Jean Beaupré, from
Quebec
City - the events' co-presidents announced.
"This general assembly will be the occasion for grassroots LPC(Q) members to update their policy orientations, which are destined to inform the upcoming Liberal platform for
Quebec
. It will also be the occasion for party members to update party statutes, in the wake of the Liberal Party of Canada's national convention in
Vancouver
last spring and, finally, to elect a renewed party executive", the co-presidents declared.
For Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff's quebec Lieutenant, the Honourable
Denis Coderre
, the general assembly illustrates the interest of Liberals for the dynamic spirit animating the
Quebec
City region. "A year after the great success that crowned the 400th celebrations, the quebec City region has managed to retain the same level of excitement these celebrations have created. Holding our general assembly in
Quebec
City will allow Liberals from all over
Quebec
to soak in the positive attitude that permeates the people of the region. It will also be an occasion to invite the people of
Quebec
City to share that dynamic attitude with the rest of the country by supporting the solid Liberal team under Michael Ignatieff," Mr Coderre said.
