Media Advisory - Rally Thursday, December 16 for Locked Out Airport Limo
Drivers
TORONTO, Dec. 15 /CNW/ - A noon hour rally will be held on Thursday, December 16 on Airport Road at American Drive in support of the more than 200 limousine drivers, who have been locked out since December 1 by their employer.
The drivers, who operate limousines for the McIntosh Group of Companies (including McIntosh, Air Cab and Aaroport) were locked out after the company owner refused to release provincial license plate stickers, effectively ending their ability to make a living.
This action by the limo company comes after it walked away from negotiations for a first contract and its refusal to address the drivers' concerns over skyrocketing costs and high fees collected by the company.
"His treatment of these workers from CAW Local 252, who are predominately South Asian, is absolutely unacceptable," said CAW President Ken Lewenza in a letter to Toronto area local unions, called to attend the rally.
The rally information is as follows:
Thursday, December 16th
Airport Road (at American Drive)
Mississauga, Ontario
12:00 p.m.
The rally will start at the drivers' compound and then proceed to Terminals 1 and 3 and will end at the compound.
