MEDIA ADVISORY - Ranking welfare use: Which provinces encourage social assistance? (REVISED TIME)
CALGARY, Feb. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - Social assistance programs are Canada's final social safety net, designed to catch people who cannot get support from family, friends or other agencies. Having low usage rates in all provinces is a goal to strive for.
Media are invited to an upcoming press conference where Professor Ron Kneebone will release a ground-breaking report that reveals which Canadian provinces have the most users of welfare programs and how usage rates are trending. Kneebone will also explain the factors that influence social assistance use and recommend courses of action for various provinces.
