Media Advisory - RCMP and Toronto Police bust major Opium importation

NEWMARKET, ON, May 12 /CNW/ - On May 12, 2010, the RCMP Greater Toronto Area Drug Section in partnership with the Toronto Police Service Major Drug Unit completed a 15 month investigation into the importation of opium and trafficking of heroin into the Greater Toronto Area.

The officer in charge of the RCMP Greater Toronto Area Drug Section, Superintendent Rick Penney, as well as a Toronto Police Service Staff Inspector Mario Di Tommaso will provide details of the investigation as well as a display of the drugs and concealment methods used to import drugs into Canada. A representative of the Canada Border Services Agency will also be available. There will be opportunities for one-on-one interviews following the press conference.
