VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Nov. 8, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are invited to attend the traditional Remembrance Day parade at Valcartier Garrison.
When: Sunday, November 11, at 9:30 am (ceremony begins at 10:30 am).
Where: In front of the cenotaph on Général T.L. Tremblay Street.
The ceremony will be attended by military personnel from 5 Area Support Group, 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group and other units from the garrison as well as veterans and civilians.
The ceremony will include the march-past of troops, the national anthem, prayers, the Last Post and speeches. Many Wreaths of flowers will be laid for the occasion, such as the one by the Silver Cross Recipient, the parade commander, the surrounding municipalities, a representative from Veterans Affairs, from 5 Area Support Group, of members wounded in Afghanistan, of the Royal Canadian Legion and from schools.
Furthermore, other activities will take place to enhance this important ceremony: releasing of commemorative doves, two CF-18 fly-past, songs, music as well as two poem readings by two students.
Media representatives who wish to attend this ceremony are requested to inform the 5 ASG Public Affairs Officer at the number below. All attendees must report to the Valcartier Garrison main gate by 9:30 am at the latest. Late arrivals will be denied access to the reserved media parking.
