Media Advisory - REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY AT VALCARTIER GARRISON
VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Nov. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are invited to attend the traditional Remembrance Day parade at Valcartier Garrison.
When: November 11 at 9:45 am (ceremony begins at 10:30 am).
Where: In front of the cenotaph on Général T.L. Tremblay Street.
The ceremony will be attended by military personnel from 5 Area Support Group, 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group and other units from the garrison as well as veterans, civilians and VIPs.
The ceremony will include the march-past of troops, the national anthem, prayers, the Last Post, a moment of silence, Reveille and speeches. Wreaths and flowers will be laid, amongst others, by the parade commander, the Shannon mayor, the St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier mayor, a representative from 5 Area Support Group, of the Silver Cross Recipient, of members wounded in Afghanistan, of the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Dollard-des-Ormeaux school.
Furthermore, other activities will take place to enhance this important ceremony: releasing of commemorative doves, Griffons fly-past, songs and music as well as a poem reading by a student.
Media representatives who wish to attend this ceremony are requested to notify the 5 ASG Public Affairs Officer at the number below. All attendees must report to the Valcartier Garrison main gate by 9:45 am. Late arrivals will be denied access as parking access for vehicles is limited.
