Peaksaver PLUS customers need to re-program in-home-displays
TORONTO, May 1, 2013 /CNW/ - Electricity costs will be increasing over the year. As of today, summer rates are in place. The Ontario Energy Board regulates the prices and time periods, which change from summer to winter to better reflect seasonal consumption patterns. Toronto Hydro collects these charges, on behalf of generators, and passes them through to customers without mark-up.

These rates are in effect from May 1 - October 31.
Time(s) | Price | |||||||||||
Off-peak | Weekdays 7pm to 7am All day weekends and holidays |
6.7 ¢/kWh |
||||||||||
Mid-peak | Weekdays 7am-11am and 5pm-7pm | 10.4 ¢/kWh |

Peak | Weekdays 11am-5pm | 12.4 ¢/kWh | ||||||||||
With the warmer weather, Toronto Hydro reminds customers to take advantage of off-peak times to help offset electricity use and manage their bills. Customers should take advantage of the milder weather where heating and cooling are not necessary, and as the weather continues to warm up, windows can be opened versus cranking the air conditioner.
To offset the increase of summer rates, customers can seek out their phantom loads. All those things plugged in consume up to $50 a year, even though the electronic devices are turned 'off'. Using a power bar with integrated timers and auto-shutoff can save up to $4 a month. For more energy conservation tips, visit torontohydro.com/conservation.
