Media Advisory - Revised Date: Halton Hills Hydro Launches Innovative Solar-Smart Grid Technology
HALTON HILLS, ON, Oct. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Due to the expected impact of Hurricane Sandy, Halton Hill Hydro is rescheduling its launch of an innovative project that combines renewable energy and smart grid technology to November 8.
The project involves mounting individual solar panels on hydro poles. The solar panels are equipped with monitoring devices that provide real-time information on both the panel and the distribution system, enhancing the smart grid.
The pilot program will see panels installed on 200 hydro poles in Georgetown, Acton and surrounding communities. In addition to remarks from Mayor Rick Bonnette and Halton Hills Hydro President Art Skidmore, the event will feature a live demonstration of how the solar panels can be installed quickly and easily in about 30 minutes.
