Media Advisory - Roberto Luongo ready to test his skills at the World Series of Poker Circuit Event at the River Rock Casino Resort, Richmond BC.

RICHMOND, BC, Oct. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Poker players across B.C. will soon have the opportunity to not only play in one of the world's most prestigious tournaments, World Series of Poker Circuit Event, but they will get a chance to play with Roberto Luongo. The World Series of Poker Circuit is coming to River Rock Casino for ten events from October 27 to November 7, 2012; and two online events via PlayNow.com on November 18 and 25, 2012.

"This is huge news for poker players," said Howard Blank, Vice President, Entertainment, Communications, and Responsible Gaming. "Not only are we expecting some of Canada's premier poker players, but we're excited to announce that Roberto Luongo is scheduled to make an appearance and play during the main event."

In July, Luongo finished in 639th place out of 6,598 entrants at the 2012 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

"Having Roberto Luongo take part in the World Series of Poker Circuit event here at River Rock Casino Resort is a true milestone. Luongo is a talented poker player and I know many players are ready to sit at the table with such an amazing athlete," added Blank. "River Rock Casino Resort is a well-established premium poker destination for local and international players."

This will be the first time the WSOP Circuit has come to Canada and also the first time the WSOP Circuit has joined with an online partner, PlayNow.com. Players will compete for more than $2.5 million in prize money, with the winner getting invited to play for a million dollars and a trademark gold bracelet at the National Championships' Main Event in New Orleans in May 2013.

Two WSOP online events take place on November 18 and 25 on www.playnow.com. Online events are to residents of B.C. and Quebec and players must be legal age to participate.
