TORONTO, April 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Sake Institute of Ontario (SIO) proudly announces the 3rd Annual Kampai Toronto, the largest sake festival of its kind in Canada. This exclusive tasting event will take place on Thursday, May 29th at the Distillery Historic District in the heart of downtown Toronto. Last year's Kampai Festival attracted more than 650 attendees.
In conjunction with Kampai Toronto, SIO will be organizing the inaugural Toronto International Sake Challenge, the first sake tasting competition held in Canada. The competition takes place on April 28th with more than 120 sakes from breweries in Japan, Canada and the United States.
The selection of sakes will be submitted for evaluation by category through our panel of six esteemed judges: David Beauroy (Wine Trade and Former Product Manager, Sake, LCBO Vintages); Richard Feldkamp (Product Consultant, Sake Tasting Panel Member, LCBO); Michael Pataran (Executive Chef, 99 Sudbury and Sake Writer); Zoltan Szabo (Wine Writer and Sommelier); Michael Tremblay (National Sake Sommelier, Ki Modern Japanese) and Chef Hiro Yoshida (Chef and Owner, Hiro Sushi)
Awards will be officially announced and presented at the Kampai Toronto Media Launch on May 15th. All award-winning sakes will be available for tasting at Kampai Toronto.
