GANDER, NL, Sept. 24, 2018 /CNW/ - Just a reminder that Unifor will host a rally Wednesday in in Gander, Newfoundland, marking the 92rd week of a lockout by D-J Composites.
"This American employer has been allowed to break provincial labour laws twice and put Canadian workers on the street for 92 weeks in a shameful attempt to bust the union," said Jerry Dias, Unifor National President. "Please join us in a show of solidarity to send the message we will not be broken."
"These workers and their families have suffered enough by the economic violence perpetrated by this employer, the scabs, and by Premier Dwight Ball's complete lack of action" said Lana Payne, Unifor Atlantic Regional Director. "Ball could fix the labour laws that allow this injustice to continue."
Thirty Unifor members have been locked-out since December 2016, after rejecting a contract that proposed significant concessions. The event will also be streamed live on Unifor Canada's Facebook page.
