Media Advisory - Steelworkers to Unveil Disturbing Results of Investigation into Double Fatalities at Vale's Mine in Sudbury Français
TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - On February 29, Local 6500 of the United Steelworkers will release the detailed findings of its eight-month investigation into the deaths of Jason Chenier and Jordan Fram in the Stobie Mine on June 8th, 2011.
At the Feb 29th media conferences in Toronto and Sudbury, union investigators will outline the details of the mining deaths and play a video reconstruction of the sequence of events of June 8, 2011.
A member of the family of one of the deceased miners will be present at the Queen's Park media conference.
The Union will call for immediate action by the Ontario government in light of this powerful evidence. There will also be numerous specific recommendations for ensuring safe working conditions in the province's underground mines.
