MEDIA ADVISORY - Students available for comment on Canadian Council on
Learning student debt report
OTTAWA, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of Students will be available for comment tomorrow morning following the release of Tallying the Costs of Post-secondary Education: The Challenge of Managing Student Debt and Loan Repayment in Canada, a report by the Canadian Council on Learning.
This fall the total amount of student loans owing to the federal government will surpass the $15 billion mark. While student debt has already accumulated to unprecedented levels, tuition fees rose by an additional 4 percent for undergraduate students this fall, and 6.6 percent for those enrolled in graduate studies.
The Canadian Federation of Students is Canada's largest student organisation, uniting more that one-half million students in all ten provinces. The Canadian Federation of Students and its predecessor organisations have represented students in Canada since 1927.
