MEDIA ADVISORY - Students available to comment on amendments to Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
TORONTO, Dec. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario will be available to comment on legislation being tabled today by Minister of Labour Yasir Naqvi. The legislation will improve health and safety protections for students who are doing unpaid work terms.

Students have been calling for an end to unpaid internships in Ontario. Currently, there is no reliable data about the number of unpaid interns in Canada, but estimates suggest there are between 100,000 to 300,000 interns across the country.
The Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario is the province's largest student organization, representing more than 300,000 college and university students in all regions of the province.
