TORONTO, Aug. 2, 2015 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of Students are available to comment on the federal election announcement.
Canada's post-secondary students are calling on all parties to address high student debt, increasing tuition fees and high youth unemployment in their campaign platforms.
In the 2011 federal election, only 38 percent of Canadian youth voted. Students will be mobilizing on campuses across the country to increase youth voter turnout in this election. Students will be engaging with candidates and hosting events on campus, running voter registration drives and encouraging students to vote in advance polls and on October 19.
The Canadian Federation of Students is Canada's largest student organization, uniting more than 600,000 students across Canada. The Canadian Federation of Students and its predecessor organizations have represented students in Canada since 1927.
