MEDIA ADVISORY - Students available to comment on professor survey on the
quality of post-secondary education
TORONTO, Sept. 14 /CNW/ - Ontario Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students Sandy Hudson will be available to comment on the report released today by the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA). The report finds that quality has declined as class sizes have grown as a result of underfunding of the post-secondary education sector in Ontario.
This fall, Ontario students will pay the highest tuition fees and experience the worst student-faculty ratio in all of Canada. Fees for undergraduate students have climbed above $6,200 for undergraduate students and $9,100 for graduate students. Last week, student debt owed to the federal government reached $15 billion, excluding provincial student debt and debt owed by students to credit card companies and banks.
The Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario unites more than 300,000 college and university students studying at public post-secondary institutions across the province. The Federation has worked for many years in coalition with faculty to improve the quality and accessibility of post-secondary education.
