MEDIA ADVISORY - Students to deliver more than 85,000 signed petitions to
Parliament calling for greater investment in post-secondary education
OTTAWA, Nov. 23 /CNW/ - On Thursday, November 25, more than 300 students from across Canada will gather on Parliament Hill to deliver tens of thousands of signed petitions calling for greater federal investment in post-secondary education.
Record high tuition fees have pushed post-secondary education out of reach for many ordinary Canadians. This year, student debt surpassed $15 billion for the first time. In response, students launched the Education is a Right campaign that calls on the federal government to increase funding for post-secondary education, reduce tuition fees, increase grants, and adopt a post-secondary education act.
