Media Advisory - Sydney Teen to receive Costa Rica Surfing Wish!

SYDNEY, NS, Feb. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - On Friday, February 26^th, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Chapter, will be presenting Christopher his wish of a trip to Costa Rica to learn to surf.

Christopher was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when he was 15 years old. "Christopher had a giant smile on his face for days after being told that his wish would be granted. This wish does not only provide Christopher with something to look forward to but also a chance to make his own decision at the time when other things in his life were leaving him with very little control," Mom Stacey says.

The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest all Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.  For more than 30 years, Children's Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 23,000 children and their families.

This year, the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes across the country with the help of volunteers and generous donors; that is approximately three wishes each and every day, all year long.  In Nova Scotia we have granted almost 1100 wishes so far and have 96 wishes being worked on at this moment to be enjoyed.  Each wish is the child's most heartfelt wish, and carefully structured to meet the particular needs of the child and their family.

Already this year, we are experiencing unprecedented increases of wish referrals through our strong medical community relationships for our wishes granted to children with life-threatening illnesses.
